What are travel maps?

Back in the early days of Travellerspoint, you could create a travel log to make a lasting record of your travels. It was a pretty simple, useful and effective tool.

With travel maps though, we think we've developed a tool which is equally simple, useful and effective, but ten times as cool! By creating your own travel map, you can visually plot your journey on a map of the world.

Ok, so travel maps are visual but what makes them so cool?

Since our travel blogs and photography features have been so popular with the Travellerspoint crowd, we thought it made sense to incorporate these into the travel mapping tool.

So besides showing where you've travelled, your travel map will show any photos you took for a given leg of your trip, as well as any blog entries you wrote while you were there.

It works the other way around, too, so you can insert your map into your blog entries, in the same way that you would insert a photo.

Very cool, but what's so useful about travel maps?

When you're travelling or have just returned from a trip, one of the first things you want to do is show pictures and tell stories about the places you visited. By creating a travel map, you can do exactly that.

You can also use a world travel map to plot your itinerary for a future trip. And because our maps have been set up to incorporate your travel photos and blog entries, your map will be updated automatically.
