About Jonas Houseboat

It is the Adventurous, the Zen-Minded ,the Artistic and the Romantic that are triggered most by JonasHouseboat.

Starting to tilt towards the chique its nevertheless devoid of three star ambitions. Sometimes the meeting point of Jonas Artist friends and filled with ideas and materialisations actually this whole canal is unusual even for amsterdam standards paramount in the high numbers of happy inhabitants. Funky, alternative and as green as possible we enjoy our campfires with a glass of wine on a summers night. A microcosm clamped in between the old and new architectural centres it should be the perfect hub for a little exploration outside your own....
Surrounded by other boats and little gardens you feel like you are in a small oasis just outside the very centre. Like a bunch of holiday homes, a row of houseboats stretches along the raildike. ( no worries trains must roll very slow here so no loud disturbing noise) With the speedy Gateway that is Central Station at ten minutes walk and inbetween easy connect cartunnels we consider ourselves well connected to any location on the planet no matter who says what. Very beautiful in summer, almost forgotten by Big Brother, this spot has true holiday relaxation just outside the somewhat funfairlike centre.

You will stay inside a floating household with 2 double rooms available for guests. One can comfortably sleep either together or apart and you can find a permanently online computer in your room. Shared shower and toilet. Well equipped Kitchen with free coffee and tea. Nice views of the water and slight rocking will relax you after enjoying the intense city centre. Rooms and bathroom are fresh and light. As boats always carry some spiders we do not recommend our place to arachnofobics!

From Amsterdam Central Station
PRINT THIS IF YOU CAN!

with all the construction going on this may be the easiest;
By Tram; take tram 26 from central station , exit at the first stop. Take the metal staircase down from the back of the tramstop, go underneath the railbridge and turn left. walk on for a few hundred metres its at number ten.

BY FOOT;
Exit central station at the front (city) side and turn left (east). Stay close to the track. Pass the trams and the busplatforms and step onto the walkingpier marked with red flags. Follow this to the end. A constructionsite is now blocking the route wich means you have to manouver around the back of the new library (bibliotheek) to find the single bowbridge you have to cross. You are now at dijksgracht walk on a few hundred metres to number ten.
The mailbox says 'mind over matter'

By Taxi : the car entry of dijksgracht is at the railside of kattenburgerstraat tell your cab driver to go there.

By Car: Exit the ringroad at s114 and turn left. Through the tunnel then right. Turn left underneath the raildyke at first opportunity then immediately turn right as dijksgracht is just on the other side of the raildyke. Watch out dont forget to get a parking ticket for your car. After unloading you can park your car in north amsterdam ndsm terrain and take a free ferry back to centralstation if you want to dodge parkingcost.
